Vladislav Petrášek

Vladislav Petrášek, a native of Ostrava, is a very experienced performer, able to play both the classical and the electric guitar. As a graduate of Žilina Conservatory (the study field of the Guitar), he later studied at the prestigious Masaryk University in Brno (the study field of Musicology). Since 1991 he has been the main teacher of guitar playing at the People’s Conservatory in Ostrava and currently still performs at concerts and participates in prominent guitar events.

Besides his concert activities Vladislav Petrášek has also actively participates in a number of festivals and conferences and has organized a
number of musical events. As a lecturer, he frequently lectures on guitar interpretation and playing techniques.

Between 1996 and 2009, he annually organized the international festival of “Dny klasické kytary” (“The Days of the Classical Guitar”) in Hukvaldy Castle and also in Štramberk.

He is the first guitar player striving to involve the right-hand little finger in his compositions for the classical guitar, not only in difficult pieces but, above all, in guitar
pieces of regular technical difficulty. For such purposes, he has composed and published the “The First Swallow”, the first publication in history containing pieces using all the five righthand fingers, technically accessible to a broad circle of guitar players.

Here is a video of Vladislav's composition Tango of Belgrade on Kremona Solea guitar. Enjoy!
